Mission Tree

What is the mission tree?

Every country has its own tree: the Nation Building tree everyone plays, archetype trees drawn from your country's character (oil giant, island hub, industrial core, mountain fortress…), and a bespoke tree for the major powers. Nodes are laid out in lanes; when you meet a node's goals it turns green, you collect the reward with Claim reward, and the nodes behind it open. Missions point the way rather than push you — the game runs fine if you ignore them.

How do the crossroads work?

Some nodes are crossroads: two branches sit on the same row and you may take only one. The moment you choose, the other branch and everything below it is locked for the rest of that game — there is no going back. Until you choose, neither branch completes, so the tree simply waits for you.

What do the rewards give me?

There are three kinds: permanent multipliers (construction, research, income, tourism…), timed boosts, and unlocks — a new building, a finished research node, a policy enacted free, corridor access, a waiver into an organization. Permanent multipliers are capped: one node gives a small slice, and a single tree's total on the same target is limited. The tree rewards the direction you pick; it doesn't break the game.

Do the other countries play missions too?

Yes — every country works its own tree and picks its crossroads by character, with no dice involved. Their rewards are applied at reduced strength, a fraction of what you get, so the world balance stays intact. You can follow which path your rivals took in the news feed.
